Smokies Strong - Gatlinburg wildfire relief efforts

Mike.jpg

On December 6th, God gave me the opportunity to deliver 7 pallets of MREs and 4 pallets of toiletries to Pigeon Forge, TN. We were not the first nor the last truck to arrive with relief efforts. However, what made it so special to me is Pigeon Forge is like a second home. My family has had season tickets to Dollywood for over 10 years and we spend a lot of time in the mountains.

A Walk-In Blessing

Tom.jpg

I had a walk-in blessing this week. Arthur was among my first contacts in Murfreesboro, a local pastor with a food pantry he wanted to fill. He would come by every few weeks to pick up food and to talk, and he always wanted to hear about my personal journey. Arthur wanted to encourage me, to see how I was doing in answering my calling to serve. As FAF got bigger, and Arthur began a multi-year church construction project, we missed each other. I kept up with him vicariously, through mutual friends, for the past several years, even while he dealt with health issues serious enough to confine him to bed for months last year.

A Miracle at Feed America First

Sarah_and_Stan.jpgHave you ever witnessed God perform a miracle right before your eyes? At Feed America First last week, we had quite the scare. Stan, one of our truck drivers, fell out of his chair after lunch. He was unresponsive, not breathing, and had no pulse. But God showed up and showed out!

Abundance of Giving

Tom.jpg

I believe everyone wants to help someone, if they just knew exactly how. But to my discredit, I often underestimate people’s capacity to give of themselves. What it's all about!

Julie.jpg

One of my favorite parts of my job is visiting our partner agencies to meet people who are receiving food.  I love to hear and record their stories and, through our monthly newsletter, have the chance to show our supporters and donors where the food goes and who they are truly helping and feeding when they support Feed America First. Often times I’ll set out to visit a partner agency and have no idea what I’m truly in for. My most recent partner agency visit left me with an unexpected envelope whose contents gave me a refreshing look at what Feed America First is all about.

$1 provides enough food for 10 - 15 meals... Seriously? How?

Lidia.jpg

How much does it cost for you to provide 10 – 15 meals for your family? From my own experience, I can tell you, it’s a whole lot more than $1.  Feed America First’s mission is to get food to those who feed the hungry. More specifically, to feed our neighbors in need in local, small towns and rural communities.

Now comes the necessary, maybe boring to some, but super exciting to me…NUMBERS!
