On December 6th, God gave me the opportunity to deliver 7 pallets of MREs and 4 pallets of toiletries to Pigeon Forge, TN. We were not the first nor the last truck to arrive with relief efforts. However, what made it so special to me is Pigeon Forge is like a second home. My family has had season tickets to Dollywood for over 10 years and we spend a lot of time in the mountains.
As we arrived to the relief center, you could see they had a lot of help and a lot of water. We unloaded our truck and listened to some stories from people that had survived the fire. One in particular was from a fireman that fought the fire for 36 hours straight. He was a 25-year veteran but said he had never seen anything like this. He said over and over how it could have been so much worse but God was there to guide people out. I love the fact that I have lived my whole life in this great state. It never ceases to amaze me that people here are ready to help or volunteer at a moments notice. I'm very proud to say that I am a citizen of the great state of Tennessee.
Feed America First was blessed to deliver a total of 52,000 lbs. of food, water, MREs, and toiletries to the Gatlinburg wildfire relief efforts.
