No; we supply food to food pantries! Think of us as the middle man; we receive large-scale food donations from manufacturers, retailers, growers, etc. and then divide and distribute those donations to our network of about 200 partner agencies, such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, etc.
We provide food to about 200 partner agencies within a 200-mile radius of our Murfreesboro, TN warehouse. Our partner agencies (church food pantries, shelters, etc.) are mostly small, rural agencies who then distribute the food to our neighbors in need in their respective communities. With our network of partner agencies, we help feed 35,000 families every month.
We receive food donations from manufacturers, distributors, growers, retailers, and other charities. Food may have been overproduced, approaching "sell-by" dates, cosmetically damaged, etc. Instead of having this food end up in a landfill, we pick it up and then distribute it to our partner agencies.
Most of our funding comes from individual donors who believe in the work we are doing and refuse to allow our neighbors to go hungry. We also hold fundraising events such as our Drive Out Hunger golf tournament and our Dancing With The Nashville Stars banquet. We also receive some grant funding.
For every $1 donated, Feed America First has historically been able to provide enough food for 10-15 meals to our neighbors in need.
We distribute over one million pounds of food every month! We have saved and redistributed over 129 million lbs. of food since we chartered in June 2000.

In 2012 we began asking our partner agencies to pay a "Shared Transportation Cost" (STC) to assist Feed America First in covering a portion of our overhead. The STC is to help cover fuel, labor, equipment maintenance and repair, insurance, and more.

There are many ways to get involved at Feed America First! You can sign up for e-mail updates, volunteer, donate, or learn about some easy ways to help (such as linking your Kroger card to Feed America First, so that a portion of what you would regularly spend at the grocery store will be donated to help us feed our neighbors in need). We also hold fundraising events, such as our Drive Out Hunger golf tournament in the spring, and our Dancing With The Nashville Stars banquet in the fall; we would love for you to join us at these events!

You are always welcome to host a food drive or fundraiser within your workplace, church, school, etc. We believe hunger will cease to be a problem in America when we all refuse to allow our neighbors to go hungry. Any way you can get involved with Feed America First, big or small, shows that you refuse to allow our neighbors to go hungry!
Yes. We chartered in June 2000 as a tax-exempt organization. We are registered with the State of Tennessee Division of Charitable Solicitations and are listed on GuideStar and Giving Matters.
