Murfreesboro, TN – July 9, 2021 – Feed America First announces the appointment of five new members to its board of directors, including Tyler Allen, Connie Hughes, Tony Stevens, Matt Nelson, and Tony Stevens. Board members at Feed America First serve 3-year terms, and are responsible for donating their “time, talent, and treasure” to the organization – including but not limited to volunteering, providing expertise and oversight, donating, and soliciting new support for the organization.

Tyler Allen - Originally from KY, Tyler first moved to Nashville in 2011 after earning his B.S. degree in Mass Communications from Olivet Nazarene University. He serves as the Regional Promotions Director with WayFM, through which he became connected to and passionate about the work of Feed America First. In his spare time, Tyler enjoys hiking, listening to true-crime podcasts and exploring the great restaurants and music venues that Music City has to offer.

Connie Hughes
– Connie Hughes was raised in California but has called Middle Tennessee home for the past 30 years. Connie is a retired CPA and was also an accounting instructor at both Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University. Connie began volunteering with Feed America First in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and has been involved with the organization ever since. She has one son and is actively involved at World Outreach Church.

Tony Stevens
– Pastor Anthony (Tony) Stevens is the Pastor of Murfreesboro Community Church since 2014. He is the Assistant Chief of Center for Development with Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Department of Veterans Affairs. He is also the Minority Veterans Coordinator for Tennessee Valley. He has been employed with Veterans Affairs for 24 years in different roles. Tony is an Army veteran and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.  Tony is married to Elizabeth and they have five children. In 2009, Tony and his family moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee from Columbus, Ohio. In October 2011 they joined the MCC family where he served as the youth minister. In January 2014, he was appointed as pastor of MCC.

Matt Nelson – Matt Nelson is the managing partner and VP of Slick Pig BBQ Inc. He graduated from MTSU with a major in Business Administration in 2006. Originally from Milan, TN, Matt settled in Murfreesboro after graduation and recently moved to Auburntown, TN where he lives with his wife, Jessica and son Fletcher. The Nelsons are members of New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. In his free time, Matt enjoys hunting, camping and UT football games.

Terry Greenwood – Terry graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology (Ga Tech) in 1979 with BS Chemical Engineering. Terry worked at Ashland Petroleum Company (APC) as a cooperative engineering student from Ga Tech nine work quarters from January 1974 through December 1977, and was hired into APC permanently in 1979. APC was merged into Marathon Petroleum Company and Terry worked with them until retirement on Jan. 1, 2015. Terry’s specialty work areas included statistical analysis and computer aided modeling, and refinery Control System design, operation, optimization, and maintenance. During his professional career with Ashland/Marathon, Terry obtained various certifications including Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Terry married his wife, Nancy, in 1976. They have five married children and twelve grandchildren and attend Victory Christian Center in Murfreesboro.

“Feed America First is blessed to be welcoming such talented and dedicated individuals to oversee our hunger relief efforts,” said Mike Womack, Executive Director. “Our new board members offer a diverse set of skills and backgrounds, and I know that together, we will create a strong team to allow Feed America First to reach even more neighbors in need,” said Mike.
